Orange County Fashion Week
Orange County has never been a stranger to high-end fashion and beauty. With renowned shopping centers like South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, and The Irvine Spectrum, the fashion scene here has continued to impress fashion lovers worldwide. In recent years, Orange County has made positive strides in emerging itself into the fashion scene by producing its own bi-annual OC Fashion Week installments. To complete the fashion vision each designer has for their individual shows, a huge help to OCFW has been beauty academy, TONI&GUY, who’s entering its 6th year as the show’s official beauty sponsor. With an exclusive behind the scenes view of what it takes to pull off the extra leg of the overall fashion look, we invited Regional Academy Director, Rachel Brumbaugh, to be part of this week’s blog. Read all about her thoughts on OCFW and TONY&GUY’s involvement below and don’t forget to follow all of Rachel’s and the academy’s OCFW adventures next week via Instagram using these handles:
What are your thoughts on the progression of Orange County fashion and its efforts of making a global fashion statement?
We have been working with OCFW since the beginning and it has been great to see the dedication that the team has as well as the progression of the event over the last 6 years. Being based in Orange County we see a very distinct style and I love that OCFW showcases local designers in the shows as well as local hair and makeup artists such as our students here at TONI&GUY Academy!
What does a day look like behind the scenes of OCFW and what does it take to pull off all beauty production?
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes! We usually have at least 20 hair/makeup artists per show, who prep all the models, as well as change the looks per designer when needed. It is a great opportunity and experience for our students to participate in the event and experience the fast pace backstage environment first hand. Experience working OCFW definitely helps us set our students up for success in our industry after graduation.
What are your thoughts on the overall Orange County Fashion Week installment and what does your involvement do for your academy?
TONI&GUY has always had a strong presence in Orange County so I think that it is very fitting that we are the hair sponsors for the show. We love getting involved with the community and supporting events such as OCFW. It is great for our students to get out there to network with the local fashion community, and this opens doors for them moving forward. As a brand we have always had a very strong connection with the fashion industry, and the opportunity to showcase our students’ work locally is very rewarding!
How does Tony & Guy best align with OCFW and Orange County’s diverse lifestyle?
OCFW is a great cross section of the diverse fashion that we see here in Orange County. It is important to us to make sure our students are up to date with all of the latest hair and makeup trends, which go hand in hand with what is going on in the fashion community over all. OCFW is a great compliment to our students overall educational training and a fantastic organization to work with!
