26th Annual Jones Cup Golf Tournament

The 26th Annual Jones Cup golf tournament between the Club Champions and Club Professional teams from Big Canyon, Mesa Verde, Newport Beach, Santa Ana and Shady Canyon was held on May 9th at Big Canyon Country Club.

The tournament plays a two best ball format. Robert Pang pushed his team into a comfortable lead to start their round by sinking 4 birdies in the first 5 holes. Don Odom of Mesa Verde gave his team hope of another win at Big Canyon by shooting an eagle on Hole #2.

Robert Pang, Big Canyon Director of Golf, was the tournament’s MVP and awarded the Gordon Bowley Celebration Award. Big Canyon was able to hold their early lead to pull out the win on the home course.

Host team, Big Canyon finished with a score of –12. Mesa Verde ended with a –10, followed by Shady Canyon with a –6. Newport Beach and Santa Ana both ended with -2.
