24th Annual Jones Cup Golf Tournament

The 24th Annual Jones Cup golf tournament between the Club Champions and Club Professional teams from Big Canyon, Mesa Verde, Newport Beach, Santa Ana and Shady Canyon was held on June 28th at Newport Beach Country Club.

The two-best –ball format provided another close and suspenseful match between the clubs. The teams from Newport Beach and Big Canyon were battling for the lead while playing thru the back 9.

Big Canyon Professional, Erika Ilagan helped her team edge out Newport Beach by making birdie at the final two holes. With a total of 5 birdies for the day, Erika was awarded the Inaugural Gordon Bowley Celebration Award for the tournament MVP.

Big Canyon held the trophy high with a score of –17. Host team, Newport Beach ended with a –16, followed by Mesa Verde with a –11. Shady Canyon finished with a –9 and returning champions, Mesa Verde ended with a –6.
