Great Road Trips to Try

What better way to get the most out of summer than sharing it with your Mercedes-Benz on a road trip?! As we get ready to launch our upcoming travel photo contest, we have a few suggestions that you can reach in less than a day. Psst, these are also great opportunities to snap a picture to use for our contest!

A must see on the Central Coast if you are interested in venturing up Highway 1. The huge estate sits atop a hill top overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by a 40,000 acre ranch. There are a few different tours, but each one has the ability to take your breath away. When’s the next time you will be able to visit a castle without leaving the country?

Located in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, you just might recognize it from some Paramount works. Does “MASH” ring a bell? If you are not much of a history buff, there are plenty of picturesque hikes to discover. Plus there is no admission fee and parking is free!

Big Bear Lake and San Bernadino Mountains

To get there, all you have to do is drive up the mountain on the 38. There are so many things to do in the area, it is sure to please everyone joining in your excursion. Boating, mountain biking, hiking, or just lounging on the banks of the lake, and that’s just in the summer. Come in winter and there are slopes for skiing, snowboarding, and inner-tubing. Plus, it is always just a few hours from the beach. We are so lucky to live here.

Mount Wilson Observatory

Perched in the San Gabriel Mountains just above Pasadena you will find two historically important telescopes. The observatory was opened in the early 1900’s and from 1917 to 1948 held the title of “the largest telescope in the world” which is now available for visitors to view. If you’re not much into “geeking out,” there is a beautiful drive and gorgeous views all around once you are at the top.
