The Service A Interval

To help drivers stay up-to-date with auto service, new—and even some older—Mercedes-Benz vehicles are programmed with the Flexible Service System, or FSS. The FSS is a schedule of routine maintenances and repairs your vehicle needs to continue to perform at its peak. Service A is a crucial service interval for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and alternates with Service B for maximum effectiveness. During Service A (for MY 2009 and newer), our Master Certified Technicians perform the following services:

  • Mercedes-Benz Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement
  • Fluid level checks and corrections based on manufacturer-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction.
  • Brake Component Inspection.
  • Reset Maintenance Counter.
  • Strict adherence to guidelines for your vehicle’s year and model, which are found on the matching service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA

Generally, Service A is first required at 10,000 miles or 1 year—whichever comes first—and is administered every 20,000 miles or 2 years going forward. Service B is required at 20,000 miles or 2 years, and then every subsequent 20,000 miles or 2 years for the remainder of your vehicle’s lifetime.

The Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System

With the help of the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System, you can easily prepare for upcoming Service A visits. This handy system is found in all late-model Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and tracks the distance you’ve traveled and the amount of time since your last service appointment. One month before service is required, you’ll receive a message in the multi-function instrument cluster, which displays the number of miles or days remaining until service is due.
