BMW vs. Mercedes-Benz: Coupes & Sedans
CLA vs. BMW 2-Series: The BMW 2-Series starts at $35,300, making it more expensive than the CLA (starting MSRP of $33,100). Despite the lower price point, the CLA offers features that aren’t included on the 2-Series, such as seating for five and an 8-inch display screen.
C-Class vs. BMW 3-Series: Both the C-Class and BMW 3-Series start out with a 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine that generates 255 hp. However, the C-Class comes equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission for smoother handling and gear-shifting, while the 3-Series gets an 8-speed automatic.
E-Class vs. BMW 5-Series: The BMW 5-Series produces 258 lb-ft of torque, while the Mercedes-Benz E-Class produces 273 lb-ft of torque. The C-Class also offers faster gear changes with its 9-speed automatic transmission. What’s more, unlike the 5-Series, the E-Class provides additional unique features like Car-to-X Communication and 64-color ambient lighting.
BMW vs. Mercedes-Benz: SUVs
GLA vs. BMW X1: The BMW X1 costs about $1,000 more than the GLA, yet it doesn’t provide certain high-end features the GLA does. Some features that only the GLA offers include 14-way power-adjustable front seats and front passenger seat memory settings.
GLC vs. BMW X4: The Mercedes-Benz GLC starts at $40,700 MSRP while the BMW X4 starts at a significantly more expensive price point — $50,450 MSRP. Even though the BMW X4 is more expensive, only the GLC comes with dual-zone climate control and a 9G-TRONIC® 9-speed automatic transmission.
GLE vs. BMW X5: The BMW X5 starts at $60,700. Again, the Mercedes-Benz option is less expensive; the GLE starts at $56,200. It’s also more capable with a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. The BMW X5 can tow 6,600 pounds, making it less powerful than the GLE.
