Performance
Born to perform, developed to outperform
Everything from fuel pressure to exhaust routing is developed to quicken, heighten and intensify its response. From patented processes to cut friction to a new generation of electrified performance, AMG® technology is fueled by its racing success.
The power of a single pair of hands
Each SL biturbo V8 is crafted by its own master. Paired with an AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® MCT 9-speed, specific SL refinements to both engine and gearbox help rush the 469-hp SL 55 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, or the 577-hp SL 63 in just 3.5.
Gets down, or up, to business
Standard AMG® Performance 4MATIC+ intelligently apportions torque to all four wheels, an SL first. Multimode adaptive damping is standard on the SL 55, or you can opt for AMG® ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL. Standard on the SL 63, it can actively adjust at each wheel to resist body roll.
Only its stamina is unstoppable
Massively powerful 15.4-inch front brakes feature red or yellow 6-piston calipers, depending on model and trim. Track-trained AMG® Carbon Ceramic brakes, optional on Performance trims, are even larger yet lighter.
Modern art and technology unite for visual, tactile and tactical rewards in the SL cockpit. Large displays are crisp in design and clear in function. The 11.9-inch central touchscreen tilt-adjusts to fight top-down glare.
2+2 seating, unequaled comfort
The multicontour front seats feature power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and active massage programs. AIRSCARF® neck warming helps lengthen the top-down driving season. All standard.
Digital sensibility, analog sensuality
The SL's "hyper-analog" cockpit elevates a tradition of rich materials and sculptural design within a highly digital environment. A reconfigurable instrument panel is set into a classic gauge visor. The dash flows into the doors.
The new SL shares its architecture with no other car. And it rushes its rich legacy ahead with handling innovations never before seen on an SL, from agile performance all-wheel drive to dynamic all-wheel steering.
A body to drive for
An intelligent composition of aluminum, high-strength steel, magnesium and fiber composites creates a body that's more rigid, more safety-focused, and more precisely crafted. It's also more aerodynamic, with a lower center of gravity.
The soft top raised, and lowered
The SL's triple-layer power soft top eliminates nearly 50 lbs where it can have the greatest effect on lowering the car's center of gravity. In 15 seconds, it Z-folds to form its own rear deck. All without intruding on trunk space.
Go for the flow
From an advanced grille shutter system to a multistage rear spoiler, the SL's active aero responds to a range of conditions to optimize cooling, minimize drag, emphasize downforce, and heighten enjoyment.
