Orange County Fair
What it’s all About: The OC Fair is a family friendly annual event that takes place in Costa Mesa. This year it will be taking place July
15th- August 14th (closed Mondays and Tuesdays.) The very first OC Fair took place in 1890 in the city of Santa Ana. It’s a time of year when all of the locals enjoy the festivities that come with the fair.

Plan Ahead: Planning ahead is the perfect way to insure a day of fun! There are plenty of little tricks to help you enjoy your day. For example, if you go on opening day (July 15) between noon and 1 p.m. there admission is free. Another frugal tip is to take Lyft or Uber to skip the traffic and parking fees. Did you know that you can take food with you and turn your day into a picnic? But pack light to save room for any of the fried delicacies you will find along the midway. If you want to go just for the rides, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s promotion is for $30 unlimited Carnival Rides and 2 free games. There are also plenty of retail booths and exhibits to check out.
Entertainment: Here is where the fun begins. You have so many options to choose from. Here are a few options to choose from the in the Action Sports Arena: Xtreme Freestyle Moto-X., MMA, Monster Trucks, Extreme Rodeo. Be sure the check the calendar on their website for dates and more details. For music lovers, the Pacific Amphitheatre offers nightly acts from all genres. Styx will be performing the first night, but get your tickets early as not many are left. Jeff Dunham makes an appearance on July 28th with a comedy act that will leave you in stitches. Food: Food is often the main event for any fair visit. There is always the good old-fashioned fair food and you can now get tastings from select vendors for $2 on Fair Food Fridays. Plus, there are many new items which items include Deep-Fried Birthday Cake, Deep-Fried Pizza, and Chocolate-Covered Pork Rinds. There will be food contests. For example Watermelon eating contest, what’s in the baby food? (July 30th) Pie Eating Contest (July 31st), Dip into the fun contest (August 6th) and Fishing for a donut contest (August 12th). There are more contests but you will have a blast with whatever you end up choosing to do.
